Granular activated carbon (GAC) filters are used to remove Chlorine, pesticides and organics from water. The removal of these types of compounds often improves the taste and odour of the water. When GAC is pressed with a mesh the carbon filter becomes a “block” which both adsorbs the chemicals and acts as a sediment filter.
