Aqua-Juraperle is a granular filtration medium with a purity of 99.1% calcium carbonate. Because of its micro-crystalline structure, it is superior to ordinary limestone. Raise of pH, as free CO₂ is converted to bicarbonate and calcium is dissolved respectively. Aqua-Jurarperle also functions as an excellent filter for sediment particles.

The calcium carbonate granulates are consumed in function of free CO₂-level. New Aqua-Juraperle must be added from time to time (e.g. once a year).
