Description
Filox R is a filter media that consists of 75 – 85% manganese dioxide. As the level of MnO2 is very high (Birm contains 1% MgO2, Greensand contains 3% MgO2), it is an excellent media to remove iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide.
In many cases it can be used without additional oxidation, depending on the presence of dissolved oxygen. Thanks to the excellent catalytic properties service flow rates are very high compared to many other media.
Again compared to other media Filox R is very heavy and demands frequent backwashing.

| GeneralTechnicalData | The use of additional oxidizing agents (oxygen, chlorine, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, potassium permanganate) is recommended for a better performance of the filter even if enough dissolved oxygen is present in the groundwater. Filox R can be used without additional oxidants if the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of the water is higher than – 170 millivolts. Below – 170 millivolts the use of additional oxidation will be required in all applications. |
